The Beginning of Forever

Brittany and Nick’s love story began at High Point University in North Carolina. Brittany grew up in Colorado and Nick spent most of his life in Michigan and Kentucky. They first met at HPU’s scholarship weekend the February before high school graduation, making each other the first people they knew going into college. They talked all summer and became good friends. During freshman year, they ran together and got coffee a few times, but never became more than friends. When sophomore year came around, they saw each other again at a Kappa Delta and Pi Kappa Phi mixer where sparks started to fly. Eventually, they made it official at a Pi Kappa mountain weekend in November of 2012.

“This Card is Just a Distraction”

Brittany arrived home from work one Friday in October to find a note on the kitchen counter. This note directed her to an adorable poem on the bedroom door. When she opened the door, she saw a dress, flowers, and another note laid out on the bed, instructing her to get ready and meet Nick outside. Next, he took her to her favorite French restaurant. After a decadent three course meal, Nick handed Brittany a final card. Inside, it read “Let’s be honest, this card is just a distraction.” When she looked up, Nick was down on one knee! She (of course) said Yes! They celebrated with a pre-arranged bottle of champagne. After toasting to their next adventure, they called their families and friends to share the news.

As luck would have it, Brittany’s best friend from high school had been planning a visit for the weekend, so she was able to show off the ring in person and celebrate with one of her closest friends!

Saying “Yes” to the Dress

With Brittany’s family and friends in Colorado, she decided to shop for a wedding dress during her trip home for Thanksgiving. Brittany was shopping on Black Friday, and The Bridal Collection was the first of three appointments. She walked in with her mom and Colorado best friends, not exactly sure what she was looking for in a wedding dress. While consulting with her stylist, she shared that she wanted to try on lace dresses, and that her style was more vintage and classic. Once she started trying on a few wedding dresses, she fell in love with styles that were lighter and more comfortable.

Before she started trying on dresses, Brittany was nervous and didn’t know what to expect. After a few moments at The Bridal Collection, she realized how fun it was to shop for a wedding dress! The moment Brittany saw herself in a Kathryn Elizabeth wedding dress, she knew it was the one. It was light and comfortable, it had a gorgeous lace pattern, and a beautiful v-neckline. Once she stepped out of the dressing room, there wasn’t a dry eye! She added a veil and hair accessory by Bel Aire Bridal to complete her wedding day look.

Brittany and Nick exchanged their vows on a dreamy September day at CrossKeys Vineyards and celebrated their newlywed bliss on a honeymoon in Napa Valley.
