We’re back this week with a new TBC featured bride, Marrissa, and are sharing her fairy tale wedding love story!
How She Met Her Partner
Nearly a decade ago, Marrissa and Christian met when they worked at the Aurora Mall. Christian came in to purchase a Spurs jersey, and Marrissa was his sales consultant. As he approached the register, he playfully asked for her employee discount, and despite Marrissa’s manager saying yes, Marrissa said no. That was until she found out he was the manager at Finish Line. The two then not only exchanged discounts, but phone numbers as well, which sparked a friendship. After five years of being friends, Marrissa and Christian started dating. Fast forward another five years and they got married!
Her Proposal Story
Christian proposed to Marrissa in December of 2020, but more specifically on Christmas Day. He asked her to be his forever in front of his family, in their living room – how intimate is that?! Before doing so, he asked Marrissa’s grandpa for permission to marry her! Marrissa and her grandfather are extremely close. From raising Marrissa to helping pick her fairy tale princess wedding dress and then walking her down the aisle on her big day, he has been there every step of the way!
Her Wedding Dress Shopping Experience at The Bridal Collection
Marrissa came shopping with us in the midst of COVID. She brought her grandpa and future mother-in-law to help with the important decision. Marrissa stated that “even though it was in the height of COVID, they made me feel important and well-taken care of.” She went on to describe how The Bridal Collection made sure her grandpa and soon-to-be mother-in-law were comfortable, with a place to sit and a glass of water. We love hearing positive remarks from our brides, as excellent service is crucial and a core pillar of our shopping experience. However, we might love how she heard about us even more! Marrissa initially shopped with us in high school to find both her junior and senior prom dresses. She stated that returning to The Bridal Collection to shop for her wedding dress “was a full circle moment!”
Marrissa came in specifically for The Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Collection by Allure Bridals. She’s been a fan of Disney since she was a little girl and even has a tattoo of Tiger on her wrist! Marrissa went on to tell us how Disney was “just something her generation grew up with,” and it was a part of her childhood. As soon as she saw the princess-inspired wedding dress collection, she knew that’s what she wanted.
If Marrissa had to describe her wedding dress shopping experience in one word, it would be “EASY!” She knew what she wanted and only tried on a couple of dresses before slipping into D293 Cinderella from Allure’s Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Collection. Once she had THE DRESS on, it was a done deal. Her grandpa said, “That’s it Rissa! That’s the one!” Marrissa completed her wedding look with a tiara and the matching Cinderella veil.
Her Wedding Day
When we asked Marrissa what her vision for her wedding day was, she responded by saying, “we wanted our wedding to be something everyone will talk about for years to come.” She wanted an epic, yet romantic wedding for all of her closest friends and family. After interviewing Marrissa, this makes total sense. It was evident that her family meant the world to her. You could tell in the way she spoke about her grandfather, passed loved ones, and her childhood best friend (who doubled as her Maid of Honor). Even her MOH’s daughters were flower girls on the big day…trust us when we say they were as cute as they come! Something truly special about The Monroe’s wedding day was how the bride and groom saved seats for their passed loved ones—Marrissa’s mom and grandma, Christian’s grandparents, and his best friend—by placing roses on each chair in their honor.
As we interviewed Marrissa, we asked her to describe how she felt in her fairy tale wedding dress and what Christian’s reaction would be on their wedding day. This was her response: “ecstatic, gorgeous, eccentric…he’s gonna cry, he’s definitely going to cry!” This was clearly seen through the emotions shown on her wedding day. One look at Christian and Marrissa’s wedding photos, and it’s obvious the passion and love they share for one another. Not only that, but the love they have for each other’s families. Marrissa becoming a Monroe was truly a day to be cherished.
