If we had to choose two words to describe…
Denver Botanic Gardens Wedding at Chatfield Farms | The Bridal Collection Real Bride
After moving to Kentucky before their nuptials, Brandy & Matthew wanted their Denver Botanic Gardens wedding to be a combination of Colorado mountain style with a country chic flair.
Finding The Dress
Ever since she was a little girl, Brandy dreamed of a fairytale wedding dress shopping experience. Once she was engaged, she planned a dress shopping day in Denver with her sister and mom. They were so supportive and patient – very important when you are making such a big decision! After browsing at a few local shops, Brandy hadn’t fallen in love with a dress and wondered if she just needed to settle. Determined to have the dream experience, she called The Bridal Collection for a last-minute shopping appointment.
Once they arrived, they were greeted by friendly and helpful staff members. As they toured the showroom, Brandy couldn’t believe how beautiful the store was – she felt like she was on a TV show! She tried on a handful of stunning dresses. With each new style, she shared what she liked and disliked about the dress before her entourage chimed in their own thoughts. After awhile, she was tired and ready to go, but her mom insisted she try on ONE more dress.
When she saw herself in the mirror, she knew this wedding gown was different. The most important aspect of a dress for Brandy was a unique, beautiful back. This dress had everything she was looking for and more! She walked out of the fitting room, quiet and thinking about how perfect this dress was. She looked in the mirror, and as tears began welling in her eyes exclaimed, “This is it, this is the one!” Her entire group, stylist included, couldn’t hold back the tears! It was one of those sweet moments she will never forget.
A Special Visitor
If you’ve spent any time in Colorado, you know that the weather is extremely unpredictable. There was a slight chance of rain on Brandy’s wedding day, but when she checked the weather while getting her hair done, she noticed it jumped from a 12% chance to a 65% chance from 6-9pm – not ideal for a 6pm ceremony! Knowing there was nothing she could do, she just hoped her rain plan would work out. As it turns out, it never even rained – it was just a cloudy day in July!
After the wedding, a family member told Brandy that the moment she started her walk down the aisle, the sun came out from behind the clouds and was shining during the entire ceremony. On top of that, there was a hummingbird that made an appearance during the ceremony. This meant so much, because Brandy’s Nana passed away a few years prior, and she loved hummingbirds more than anything. Although it was painful that her Nana was unable to be there on her wedding day, the hummingbird was a reminder that her Nana was with her in spirit.
Bringing the South to Colorado
Because they had moved to Kentucky shortly before their Chatfield Botanic Gardens wedding, Brandy and Matthew wanted to incorporate their new home in their wedding somehow. They decided to offer Bird Dog Whiskey (made in their new hometown!) in a delicious Blueberry Bourbon Lemonade. The tasty drink brought a taste of the South to Colorado, and was a hit with their guests!
Advice for Future Brides
Brandy’s advice to future brides – “Don’t skimp on the photographer! The day goes by so entirely fast and the only way to relive it and see the pieces that you missed is through pictures and video. Any pictures or specific things you want, be sure to ask and write it down!”
