Dreaming up your wedding day and bringing it to life is an equally exciting and daunting task. Since we have the honor of working with brides over the months (sometimes years!) they spend organizing, making decisions, and planning for their big day, we get a first-hand view of the good, the bad, and the ugly of wedding planning. It’s not an exaggeration to say that many brides become experts throughout the process!

Our bride Mikele learned a lot over the months she spent planning her Denver wedding. She was kind enough to share her wisdom and insight with all of you!

Planning a Denver Wedding

“Traditional, Timeless, and Elegant. Tony and I knew we wanted a traditional ceremony in a Church, followed by a reception with great mountain views, food, and music. The best advice that we can offer to newly engaged couples is to stay true to what you as a couple want. You will receive opinions from family members and friends, and you will feel pressure to accommodate everyone’s wishes. Prioritize what is most important to you as a couple and work from there. Choose three adjectives that you would like used to describe your wedding, and use those words to bring your vision to life when interviewing vendors. When planning our wedding, every decision we made, every vendor we booked, circled back to our three words: traditional, timeless, and elegant.”

Wedding Dress Shopping in Denver

“Ladies, when shopping for a dress, have fun! This is not just any dress; this is the dress! It should be a representation of you, your relationship, and something that you will cherish for the rest of your life. With that being said, it is okay if tears don’t stream down your face when you find the one. Try on a variety of styles! The Bridal Collection was wonderful about this! It is the best way to narrow down your favorites.”

Choosing Your Denver Wedding Vendors

The Diamond Empire Band was one of the first vendors we chose, we were beyond impressed with their talent, and ability to provide live music at the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. When looking for a photographer, we wanted black and white photographs as well as color. We fell in love with Danielle DeFiore and her work immediately. The black and white photographs really capture the timeless feel of our wedding. Isabelle Kline Design helped us keep the decor and florals simple yet stunning. The bridesmaid’s bouquets had pops of color, while I carried white Calla Lilies, a tradition passed down from my mother. Isabelle and her team understood our vision right from the beginning and made our décor and flower dreams reality. Tony and I were on the fence about hiring a videographer, until we met Colin. We fell in love with his work, professionalism, and creativity. We are so thankful we not only went with Colin Lee Films, but now have video to remember our wedding.”

Final Advice for Future Brides

My other piece of advice would be to think of your guests. Be mindful of time in-between the ceremony and reception, how much food will be served and when, and the overall flow of the day from the guest perspective. Making sure our family and friends had a great time on our day, was very important to us!”
