Katie & Alex said yes to forever at their lovely Lionscrest Manor wedding in Lyons, CO.

Meet Alex & Katie

Katie and Alex met while working together in a research laboratory in Florida. Eventually, they moved to Colorado to attend graduate school to study cancer. Alex recently graduated with a PhD in Structural Biology and Biochemistry, while Katie will soon be defending her thesis in the Cancer Biology PhD program. When they aren’t working in the lab, they love spending time outdoors in the mountains, at a local park, or a brewery. In fact, they love Colorado so much that they named their wedding guest tables after their favorite skiing and mountain biking trails. The two also love going to concerts, so it was necessary to have a live band at their Lionscrest Manor wedding.

A Proposal To Remember

Katie had always dreamed of being proposed to in the mountains, and there’s no doubt that Alex overheard her mentioning that dream to her girlfriends a few times. In September of 2015, the two planned a quick camping trip to Hall Valley. It was the perfect time of year to see the leaves changing – one of Katie’s favorite things. After an evening of drinking wine, making s’mores, and talking about their lives, they rested up for the next day. During their hike they ended up taking a 4 mile detour, which was exhausting. By the time they got to the lake, Katie was getting “hangry” so they stopped and had lunch by the water.

After eating, Alex told Katie to go look for fish. She made her way down to the lake, and he joined shortly after. When he seemed nervous, Katie noticed a little box in his pocket. She was so excited, she could hardly pay attention to what he was saying! However, she knew without a shadow of a doubt that he was the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Once he got down on one knee, she said yes! After they hugged and kissed, Alex went to check out his camera (he had set it up to record the proposal). Immediately, they both realized his phone ran out of storage right before he got down on one knee – they completely missed the proposal! After re-enacting it twice and still struggling with storage space, they gave up. They couldn’t help but laugh! They will always remember that special day even without a video.

Wedding Dress Shopping in Denver

Since both her mother and Alex’s mother were in Florida, Katie asked them to fly to Colorado to go wedding dress shopping in Denver. When they stepped into The Bridal Collection, they were amazed at the beauty of the store and friendliness of the staff. After trying on a handful of different designers and wedding dress styles, Katie fell in love with Sottero & Midgley “Ireland”. The moment she saw her reflection in the mirror, she knew it was the perfect wedding dress for her Lionscrest Manor wedding. The fit and flare wedding dress features lightly embellished lace, a dramatic scalloped hemline, a sweetheart neckline, and romantic cap sleeves.

To make things even sweeter, she found the PERFECT headpiece that she had dreamed of wearing, making her wedding day vision complete.
