What does David's Bridal bankruptcy mean for brides?

With the recent announcement of David’s Bridal closings, bankruptcy, and massive layoffs, brides are finding themselves to be, understandably, nervous. What does this mean for you as a bride? And most importantly, what does this mean for the bridal industry?

Let’s talk first about how such a large closure will affect you as a bride, whether or not you purchased your gown at David’s Bridal. Because David’s is a corporate company, their potential closure will not impact brides who ordered from independently owned bridal salons. Independently owned bridal stores partner with established wedding dress designers who exclusively sell their wedding gowns through brick and mortar stores. These shops follow appropriate precautions to confirm their ability before taking and fulfilling orders. But, for brides who already purchased from David’s, the company has stated that their main goal going forward is making sure all brides receive the dresses they ordered.

WHY TO SHOP INDEPENDENT BRIDAL STORES

While this potential closure can seem extremely scary—especially for brides awaiting the arrival of their wedding gowns—the bridal industry is more than prepared to step up and help. Whether it is a store closure or damage caused by natural disasters, we have seen many stores, including our own, do everything they can to ensure that affected brides have a gown for their wedding. In the past, we have helped brides by offering large discounts, and in some cases, a free wedding dress when their gown was not delivered or was destroyed. In an independently owned bridal shop, your wedding matters. Even if you are not a Bridal Collection bride, you are still a bride who deserves of a beautiful wedding dress. When you buy from an independent salon, not only are you supporting a small and local business, but your business is so much more valuable and important. Instead of being one of millions who purchase a wedding gown, you’re one of hundreds, and your experience when buying your gown and wearing it on your wedding day really matters to us.

oUR IN STOCK BRIDAL GOWN COLLECTION

For brides who have not found a gown though, there are still so many options available for in stock and budget friendly wedding dresses. At The Bridal Collection, we allocated a large part of our store to include wedding dresses ranging from $750 to $1,000, with additional options under $3,500 that you can purchase and take with you that day. This allows all brides to have the shopping experience they deserve and find a wedding dress that is as stunning as it is within their budget.

We recently expanded our in-stock wedding dress availability with an exclusive collection, Sophie James. The Sophie James collection features trending styles available for immediate purchase, priced from $950 to $1,700, and ranging from sizes 2 to 24.  The Bridal Collection also carries a variety of new, in stock and current wedding gowns from designers such as Justin Alexander, Martina Liana, Maggie Sottero, Lillian West, and many more. Additionally, we offer an assortment of evening gowns and special occasion dresses that range between $350 to $850 and that are available in many sizes for brides seeking something less traditional or more casual.
