We’re calling it right now: 2020 is the year of traditional. For the past few years, this trend has been making a comeback. From soft color palettes and classic bridal gowns, to elegant reception details, timeless takes the cake. 

It’s no secret that fashion is cyclical – and bridal is no different! Recently, we’ve seen a huge shift from modern, bohemian, and “laid-back” bridal styles to much more classic, traditional, and timeless styles. From clean lines to luxurious silks, flattering A-line and ballgown silhouettes, and even accessories, we’ve fallen in love (all over again) with tradition. 

Timeless isn’t going anywhere. Therefore, we’re sharing five elegant wedding details that you can incorporate in your very own traditional wedding! 

Elegant Updos

While we love loose, romantic curls, there’s something so elegant about a classic bridal updo. First of all, updos are stunning from every angle. No matter where your photographer is, your hair always looks gorgeous. On top of that, you can add your own twist to an updo. Braids, buns, and chignons – to name a few! Choose a hair stylist who understands your vision, bring lots of pictures, and schedule a hair trial to make sure you love the look! Finally, wearing your hair up makes it easier to dance the night away while your locks stay locked in place. 

Bridal Veils

A veil is one of the most iconic and traditional accessories a bride can wear. In fact, veils date back to the ancient Greeks and Romans! Over the years, there have been different meanings for wearing a veil. There’s no rule that says your veil has to symbolize something before you can wear one. Oftentimes, our brides wear veils because putting it on is the moment when they feel most like a bride! Plus, veils look incredibly romantic and bridal in photos. 

Classic Wedding Dresses

While we are (obviously) a bit biased, a classic wedding dress is our favorite of all traditional wedding details. Any time a bride says she wants to feel elegant and timeless, it’s like music to our ears! Be open to traditional silhouettes like ballgowns and A-lines. Try on a few dresses with vintage lace, and some with no lace at all! Even if “traditional” is not the word that comes to mind when you think of a dress, give it a shot. You may surprise yourself. 

Roses

There’s something so classic and romantic about a rose. If a classic bouquet of red roses isn’t your wedding vision, don’t worry! Nowadays, there are a variety breathtaking hues of roses used by Colorado wedding florists. Also, you can mix it up with tons of texture and greenery while still keeping roses the focal point of your floral design. You truly cannot go wrong when it comes to roses (and we’d be hard-pressed to find a flower that smells more romantic!) 

Location, location, location! 

Your options for a unique Colorado wedding venue are endless. Since there are so many to choose from, you can be selective on a traditional wedding venue. Whether that means a classic chapel or cathedral, ballroom, or historic venue, it’s up to you! Recently, The Bridal Collection participated in a styled shoot at The Colorado Springs School in, of course, Colorado Springs. As soon as we saw photos of the venue, we were ecstatic to see the end result! 

This venue is an active college preparatory school. However, the property has so much beauty and potential that they offer weddings and other events. Envision sparkling chandeliers, gorgeous original gold hardware, and stunning silk wallpapers.
