LAURIE AND JESSIE’S LOVE STORY IS ONE OF STRENGTH, RESILIENCE, AND UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

When Laurie and Jessie met at a work event, sparks began to fly. Soon after, they started dating long distance – spending the better part of a year traveling back and forth to see one another. After that year, Laurie convinced Jessie to move to Cleveland (she was living in Lexington) and things began to fall into place. Jessie interviewed and was accepted for a job, packed up her house and headed north to be closer to Laurie.

Within a month of Jessie moving to Cleveland, Laurie’s company downsized, resulting in Laurie’s position being eliminated. While this was not exactly the start of the life together they dreamed of, the couple was hopeful. As Laurie continued in her job search, she began noticing unusual changes in her body. After a few doctor visits, a biopsy concluded that Laurie had invasive lobular carcinoma. This diagnosis came three months after Jessie moved to Cleveland, two months after Laurie lost her job, and 4 days after Christmas.

After a whirlwind year of chemotherapy, surgeries, and multiple visits to the hospital, this couple needed a silver lining.

THEN CAME THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL.

From Laurie: “(Jessie) has been my rock through every single step of my cancer experience. We have done everything in our power to make lemonade out of the lemons we’ve been handed. Throughout this entire situation, our love has been tested and strengthened, and I know that I would not have made it this far without her love and support. She is my best friend. We laugh together, love together, cry together, and dream together. She is my rock and my wings.” The pair got engaged shortly before they found out about Laurie’s cancer, so all plans for a wedding had to be put on hold. Once the battle was won, a friend of the couple sent them a link to The Wedding Pink and encouraged them to apply. The brides were over the moon to find out they had been chosen.

WHAT IS THE WEDDING PINK?

The Wedding Pink is an annual Colorado wedding giveaway that is gifted to a deserving couple whose lives have been affected by breast cancer. Cheryl Ungar, the founder of The Wedding Pink, is a 26-year breast cancer survivor as well as a photographer. Each year she puts together an incredible team including some of the top wedding vendors in Colorado. These vendors generously agree to donate their services and products to ensure The Wedding Pink is nothing short of a dream wedding for the couple.

When Lynn, owner of The Bridal Collection, was approached about donating wedding dresses, there was no hesitation. Lynn has a passion for empowering women and one of her favorite things about her job is making dreams come true. The Wedding Pink was the perfect fit. Since the women live in Cleveland, they made a special wedding planning trip out to Colorado in February, which included a visit to The Bridal Collection. The Bridal Collection’s master stylist, Jordan, pampered Laurie and Jessie and styled them for their big day.
