When we were planning our summer Kathryn Elizabeth photo…
Alice in Wonderland Themed Wedding Shoot
Alice in Wonderland themed wedding? We’re here for it. When it comes to styled wedding shoots, you can count on Jewels Gray (Photography by Jewels) to pull out ALL the stops. She’s dreamed up and executed many of our favorites — including Rustic Tuscany at Villa Parker and a wine cellar shoot at Hotel Teatro Denver. Her creativity, coordinating skills, and ability to capture fabulous photos are like no other. So it was no surprise to us when she taught a “Rock Your Styled Shoots” course at a photography convention.
Part of her styled shoot course included an actual styled shoot where photographers could practice and refine their skills and build their portfolio. She had a venue in mind, and it didn’t take long for her to come up with a brilliant theme.
“I have always wanted to do an “Alice In Wonderland” theme. Of course, this has been done, but I wanted – needed- it to be different – better – classier – more luxury – more bridal. I wanted to stay away from bright colors and kitschy details. I have always loved the old illustrations from the original Lewis Carroll novel, and wanted that to be what it was built around = vintage and classic. Keeping it “blushy” and soft with the color palate was a must, and why not throw a French undertone in there (it seemed to fit)?” – Jewels (from her blog)
If you know Alice in Wonderland, you know Alice wears a baby blue dress. Luckily, we had a gorgeous silvery-blue Justin Alexander gown that was perfect for the scene.
The photography convention came and went and when we received the photos from Jewels, our jaws dropped. Every detail was exquisite. Even better, the photos capture all of them! We’re obsessed with the fairytale feeling when we look through the photos. Why? There’s just enough “Alice in Wonderland” without feeling avant-garde.
Take a look for yourself and let us know what you think! As always, thank you Jewels for letting us be part of such fun projects!
