High School Sweethearts
Erin and Jon were friends in high school. Their relationship grew closer once they started performing in plays and musicals together – they even played a husband and wife in one production! After high school, Jon moved to college in South Carolina while Erin stayed in Colorado. During one summer break, they started dating and made the decision to continue their relationship despite the long distance. After spending a year apart, Jon moved back to Denver. While their time away from one another was challenging, Erin believes it strengthened their relationship.
A Christmas Proposal
Every year at Christmas, Erin and Jon decorate their table with a bowl from her great, great-grandfather. The bowl is significant, because he proposed to his wife by filling the crystal-footed bowl with Lily of the Valley, which was her favorite flower.
One Christmas, Jon gifted Erin with a trip to Estes Park, where they spent an incredible weekend. They walked around the charming downtown area, attended a wine tasting, and enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Dunraven Inn.
On their drive back to the hotel, Jon was noticeably quieter than usual. Erin assumed he was just exhausted from such a fun-filled day! As she walked through her hotel room door she saw a lit fireplace and her great, great-grandfather’s bowl filled with orchids and a small box. Turning, she reached for the bowl as Jon dropped down onto one knee. He said, “Marrying you wasn’t a matter of if, but when and I can’t imagine spending another day not being married to you. Will you marry me?” She said “yes” to her best friend and the love of her life!
The First Look
One of the most memorable moments of Erin’s wedding day was the first look. Their plan had been to meet outside the Grant-Humphrey’s mansion, where their wedding was taking place, but it started to rain, which is said to be lucky on your wedding day! With the rain falling, they met one another on the beautiful covered porch. Erin loved this special moment alone with Jon before all of the wedding excitement began. The romantic, “lucky” rain in the background was the cherry on top!
It was such a blessing to be part of your special day, Erin and Jon! We wish you all the happiness in the world.
