Market in New York

By TBC on October 27, 2008

One of the perks that I love the most about this business is my trips to New York twice a year. This October was no exception.

Victoria McMillan, the designer of Alvina Valenta, said she has had many requests for traditional ball gowns. Watch for many in her new line. Our trunk show with her will be January 23rd and 24th.

This theme continued with Anne Barge’s line. We have always enjoyed her so much. She is such a lovely Southern lady.

My favorite of her new line is style LF182. The ruched waist and full pleated skirt in silk taffeta will flatter all figure types and be easy to wear. Nothing “floats” like silk taffeta.

Grace Young, owner of the Salon, Grace and Grazia shoe lines also owns a very high end boutique in San Francisco. This is probably why she knows so well what shoes brides and their attendants want and like to wear. We can always count on her to have cute and comfortable shoes each season. Her newest styles in the Grace line include the Madeline with a chunky high heel and the Brooke which is an open toed wedge, perfect for our outdoor weddings and receptions on wooden decks. These should arrive after the New Year.

I was especially pleased with the Lazaro maids line. Fun knee length styles in tissue taffeta and stretch jersey with new colors such as lemon, hibiscus and blackberry are great for rehearsal dresses or luncheon. They aren’t just for your maids! His wedding gowns include ball gowns, incredible beading and super dropped waists with ruffled organza skirts.

I can’t wait to have these new lines in our store! Be checking back for updates when our samples come in.
