Surrounded by friends and family, Kalia and Deryk committed their lives to one another on a beautiful Colorado day. Their Cherry Hills Country Club wedding was romantic and elegant. From the rich burgundy bridal party attire to the stunning floral arrangements by Lale Floral, every last detail came together like a dream. After they said their I Do’s, they celebrated in the best way they knew how: an epic dance party!

Finding the Dress

When it was time to shop for a wedding dress, Kalia’s experience was no walk in the park. Before her first appointment, she imagined herself wearing a simple lace wedding dress. However, when she tried on gowns that fit this description, she didn’t feel comfortable or like herself. After awhile, she was more open to trying on dresses that were a little out of her comfort zone. Her bridal stylist picked out a few different styles to try on and sure enough, Kalia ended up loving all of the sparkle, lace, and dramatic details! Although she didn’t find her dress on the first try, she visited The Bridal Collection a few days later and once again tried on a dress she just couldn’t get out of her head. Once she saw Martina Liana style 895 for the second time, she knew it was the one!

Her Martina Liana wedding dress gives a sophisticated update to a classic fit and flare silhouette with eye-catching ornate beading. The lace patterns and subtle sparkle are both unique and beautiful, while the train adds a hint of drama. And the fit? Like a glove!

When asked about her shopping experience, Kalia said “I couldn’t have been happier with the dress that Erin helped me with. I don’t know what I would’ve done had I not worked with her. It was a truly magical experience and I’m so so thankful that she was who I was assigned.”

Something Borrowed, Something Blue

You have more than likely heard the phrase “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” This wedding tradition comes from an Olde English rhyme that names four good luck objects that a bride should wear or carry with her on her wedding day. Even if you’re not superstitious (maybe just a little stitious), this tradition can be a fun way to get creative on your wedding day.

Kalia’s “something blue” was a small, blue button in the shape of a heart. This button came from her great grandmother’s sewing box. After she passed away, Kalia’s aunt found the box and realized the number of blue buttons was exactly the same as the number of unmarried women in the family. Kalia had the button sewn into an under layer of her dress. It meant so much to her having a part of her great grandmother with her on her wedding day.

For “something old”, Kalia wore the tiara that her mom wore on her wedding day. She and her mom have a close relationship, and it was important for her to have a piece of her mom with her as she walked down the aisle. Although she’s always known she wanted to wear it, they forgot to bring the tiara with them to find the dress. Luckily, it matched perfectly to her gown and added an extra touch of sparkle!

What is a moment/memory from your wedding day that you will never forget?

A wedding day moment that Kalia will never forget is her walk down the aisle. Although it happened in a flash, it was beyond perfect.

Up until that moment, she had spent the morning feeling overwhelmed and panicked even though there was no question that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Deryk. The weight and significance of her wedding day began to sink in and her emotions were all over the place! It’s more common than not for brides to feel a little overly emotional on the big day.

After her hair and makeup were done, her dress was on, with bouquet in hand, she made her way to the ceremony site. As she rounded the corner, she caught a glimpse of her groom: calm, confident, and handsome as ever. Happy tears began to flow from Kalia’s eyes as the most assured feeling overcame her. This was exactly what she wanted and there was nobody besides Deryk that she wanted to be with for the rest of her life.

It’s totally normal for brides and grooms to experience some nerves leading up to the big day. After all, marriage is a big deal! Check out our blog for 10 ways to calm your nerves before your wedding day.
